Home Sweet Home!

I will try not to make this a novel but there are some things I would like to share.
Well, we have been in Escalante, for a whole week now. We finally got everything unpacked and organized. We are still waiting on Internet and cable to be hooked up, once that is taken care of I think I will finally feel like we are not in the dark ages. I think I am stealing our neighbor's wireless Internet to write this(please don't judge)We just got to get use to the pace of life here. It is so much slower than what we are use to.
Church was even a change a pace. When church started I kind of wondered if the clock was fast. Half the chapel was empty and it was so quiet you could here a pin drop let along my three loud children. I didn't realize how loud we are until we are in a small quiet ward. Brynlee has about ten kids in her class, MaCade is one of three, and Dallin has about five in his. There is no senior or junior primary, it is just primary! It is kind of nice to have it smaller, but I kind of miss our huge old ward.
I do have to share a funny story, we have been telling the kids that there really isn't many stores here, no swimming pool, and lots of other things that they were asking about. So Sunday comes around, and of course we are fighting MaCade to get dressed, because for some reason he doesn't like going to church, and he stands up and says, "There is no church here, we have to go far away to get to a church." Sorry son, church is one of the few things they do have here.
Brynlee was nervous to go to school, but came home the first day and said she would be just fine here. I got in trouble with the cross guard at the school. I apparently didn't wait for her to go out in the middle of the road to see if the coast was clear and she let me know that I needed to wait for her. I don't think we need to worry about rush hour or anything out here. No, but I do understand that for the sake of the kids and trying to follow and keep the rules, I will be waiting for the cross guard to go first next time.
There are still some kinks that we are working on with the house to make it livable by my standards, but all in all this will be a fun experience.
Pictures will have to come later

  1. What an experience! Small town live is so different, isn't it? We know all about the small wards, that is quite an adjustment too! Small can be good in a lot of ways though. I hope you guys conitnue to like it down there!

  5. I hope you get used to it soon. At least it's not a permanent thing. Looking forward to pictures. I am sorry you don't have a pool. Not even at the motels?

  6. Our neighborhood is missing you. Glad to hear you guys are getting settled and that despite a lack of necessary essentials like a swimming pool, Target, & Costco...at least the kids' eternal salvation is not at risk, although McCade might find that one debatable.
