Temple Trek

Saturday we hiked from the Draper temple to the Salt Lake temple with the young single adult ward. The man that engraved Holiness to the Lord on the Salt Lake Temple walked from Alpine to the Salt Lake Temple every week, so we were reenacting his trek(I can't remember his name for the life of me).  It was about 22 miles. Brynlee walked about 17 miles of it and Chad and Macade walked about 15 miles(with MaCade on the bike for some of it). I walked about 5 miles and then leap frogged the car. It was such a good experience just to think about what conditions were like back then and what the valley looked like. It made me think of the pioneers crossing the plains and I would so not make it as a pioneer with little children, and I didn't even walk the whole way! What did they do when their kids started whining and complaining that they were tired of walking, too hot, thirst, hungry? I am so grateful for modern day conveniences and the many blessings and comforts I have.
